Local family owned trading business, the RO, based in Potters Bar, has once again used their annual charity quiz to raise over £10,000 for an important local charity.  The quiz, held annually at the Wyllyotts Theatre, has now raised in excess of £75,000 for Hertfordshire-based charities.

ADD-vance, the beneficiary of this year’s event, is comprised of a dedicated group of professionals, who are also parents of children affected by ADHD and / or Autism. Their mission is to support the families of children affected by these conditions, and the professionals involved in their care, by increasing understanding, providing support, and changing perceptions of these complex neurological conditions, with the aim of improving the wellbeing and reducing the social isolation of these young people and their families.

The quiz, which took place on 1 April, was well supported by local businesses, families, friends and contacts from the RO’s network and after a hard-fought contest was eventually won by winning team ‘In Quizness to do Quizness’.

Richard Rowlandson OBE, Chairman of the RO Group said:

I am incredibly proud of all the hard work that our team puts into holding this quiz each year and the great enthusiasm and effort they go to ensure that we raise as much money as possible for deserving local charities.

People come from far and wide from within our network of contacts to have fun and give generously and I would like to say thank you to everybody involved for this year raising in excess of £10,000.

ADD-vance is this year’s chosen charity and they are a very worthy beneficiary.  We hope that the monies raised will help to ensure that they can continue doing their incredibly important work with those children and families who need support in managing lives with ADHD and Autism.

Anne Ross, founder of ADD-vance and speaker on the night said:

We are a relatively small charity but the families we support and the services we provide are paramount to those in our local community.

Having set up ADD-vance over 20 years ago after experiencing the lack of support for families like my own, I resolved to fix this situation by forming this group. Since then we have gone from strength to strength and now have a team of 25 dedicated trainers, coaches, admin staff and volunteers. This growth has only been possible with the support of those around us, and charity events such as this are vital in helping us to continue doing the work that we do.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the RO and all those who gave so generously.  Most important of all, thank you for understanding the value of supporting groups like ours who operate locally in Hertfordshire and rely on the wider community to help us achieve our mission.
