Watford charged up by global electronics company

The RO Group is delighted to announce that Anker Innovations, a global leader in charging technology, has chosen Watford as the base for its UK operations. Anker has leased 1,520 sq. ft. in the GNR8 office building, located at 49 Clarendon Road, Watford and owned by the RO Group.

Anker is an electronics company that specialises in wireless charging, car charging, and portable and wall chargers, and was established by Steven Yang in 2011 after working as a software engineer for Google in California. Anker has subsidiaries in California, Germany, Japan, China, and the United Kingdom – which will now be based at GNR8.

Anker is the third new tenant to lease space in GNR8 this year, with another tenant set to join in the New Year. After that, only one suite in the building, of 1,964 sq. ft., will remain available to lease. These lettings demonstrate the healthy demand for office space in Clarendon Road, Watford. Limited office availability in Watford, and the high quality refurbishment of GNR8, have created a fertile ground for letting activity in the building.

GNR8 has also achieved a 3-star Fitwel certification, which is a simple and easy to apply healthy building measure. Facilities in the building include a modern business lounge, perfect for agile working; new bicycle racks; and a modern shower block. The property also benefits from excellent parking provisions for a town centre location.

David Kershaw, Group Real Estate Director, the RO commented:

“Activity in Watford’s central business district, following the end of lockdowns, is stronger than ever before. Pent up demand for quality and healthy workspace, a rallying economy, and Watford’s excellent location and connectivity, are all factors which have contributed to this rebound.”

The RO Group was advised by Brasier Freeth and Osborne Clarke.
